As the title suggests, this whole episode revolves around the aftermath of Amon's attack on the pro-bending arena. Tarrlok recaps the events and also sheds a little bit of light on his schemes in the scene after the title sequence. As he hinted to last week, he's putting the full blame on Chief Bei-Fong for the attack and wishes to have a stronger police force with him in charge. Whatever his full plan is, we'll know soon enough.
After that brief bit, we see that Mako and Bolin obviously can't stay in the attic above the arena anymore, so Korra lets them know that they can stay at Air Temple Island, but Asami has already planned for them to stay at her dad's mansion. From this episode we can see the full reach of Amon's power, even the rich and comfortable of Republic City can be equalists. It wasn't that obvious but when I first saw the scene in the police headquarters with Hiroshi Sato, I started believing that he was up to something but more on that in a little bit.
I enjoyed the character interactions in this episode, Korra is finally warming up to Asami, Tenzin and Lin are paired up during the majority of this episode, and you can see tell how close Mako and Bolin are by watching the scene where they tie up the metalbender that was watching them. The characters are written well and although I figured that Asami would end up stopping her father, it's good to see that none of the female characters are weak and need to be saved, Lin, Korra, and Asami are all able to hold their own.
The humor in this episode was classic, like always. The cabbage merchant's descendant screaming "NOT MY CABBAGE CORP!" was hilarious. Bolin also had some great lines like always. Even Korra had a good line with that "airsit, babybend" thing. The writers really balance the humor and seriousness well. And speaking of seriousness, in the final action sequence we got to witness Tenzin show off his airbending skills, Lin use seismic sense and display some Wolverine like claws to attack the equalists' machines, that's a lot to digest in one sitting but it was very epic.
All in all this was a solid episode albeit a bit predictable, I'll give it an 8.5 out of 10.
