As Nickelodeon promised after their facebook page hit 100,000 likes, they released the first episode of The Legend of Korra. I won't lie I was completely immersed in the show after seeing the opening scene (Adult Aang for the win). I believe that Korra will be a great main character, her brash attitude and recklessness is a great antithesis to Aang, which is a good thing because we wouldn't want a repeat of the first series. This leads me to my next point. The creators did a pretty good job of distancing this series from the last; yes there are connections but most are minor. If this show is going to continue to be enjoyable it must retain its own identity while giving some callbacks to the first series. The artwork is fantastic as always, the humor is still there (man living in the bushes). The setting of Republic City is causing some annoyance among fans since the series is staying in Republic City for a more concise storyline, but it was established that the city is humongous and maybe we won't be bound to it come season 2. Anyway all in all I believe that this series could very well pass up the old one, it very well has the ability. Now we must see what they do with it.
