It definitely isn't new news that Gearbox (the American video game developer responsible for the Borderlands and Brothers in Arms series) and their CEO/president Randy Pitchford have admitted that Borderlands 3, their most popular series, is currently not being developed, causing many gamer trolls to excrete grease in rage. Furthermore, even though the subsequent public outcry wasn't as bad as I've seen it, it still begs the question, why do gamers feel so entitled to receive the games they want? From the ever-piling rants regarding the absent Half-Life 3 to the sea of hate aimed at EA for not making Mirror's Edge 2, gamers everywhere feel like they deserve these games.
Now, this goes without saying that I also desperately want these games to come out; however, I'm not writing a rant about how (insert CEO of game company here) is a (insert racial/sexual slur) because he or she is not developing their game (looking at you darkangelsniper457).
Gamers need to realize that although some game developers put money over their fans, there are also some game developers who are genuinely trying new things and need to put their popular games on hold. I strongly believe that gamers should stop whining and instead set a better example for the gaming community.
But Alas, this is my opinion. What do you guys think?
