In less that two weeks, Wondercon will be hitting the streets of Anaheim for the first time in event history. Due to renovations at the Moscone Center in San Francisco (Wondercon's usual site), Wondercon was able to find a new venue for one year only. Anaheim's convention center is a fairly new, three level building with many windows. It's quite a sight. Because I live in San Diego, it is now very convenient for me to attend, so I jumped on the opportunity when I had the chance. If Wondercon turns out to be even 25% as amazing as the San Diego Comic Con is, it will prove to be money well spent.
I am attending Saturday for sure, but I am yet to figure out if Friday is also possible. Either way, I plan on posting lots of coverage of the event. I am going to Cartoon Network's Adventure Time Panel on Saturday morning, and I will definitely post an overview of what is announced. I am planning on going to probably two more panels, and also the Masquerade. The panels I am considering are various DC or Marvel comics related forums and also the panel for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I, myself, am not as excited as everyone else seems to be about AL:VH. Sure it looks very funny and silly, but it's in that Hobo with a Shotgun "So bad it's good" kind of feel. I'll definitely end up watching the movie one way or another, but I'm not entirely sure that it's worth standing in line for a few hours just to be among the first to see a 30 second teaser.
I'm not sure how good the quality of cosplay usually is at Wondercon, especially now that it's in its new venue, but I will be bringing my camera in case. If I see anything that catches my eye I'll be sure to snap a pic. Let me know if there is anything you are interested in getting coverage of, and I'll see what I can do.
